Test methodology
What does the Crunch Test measure?
It measures JavaScript execution, jQuery-assisted DOM mutation, text traversal, CSS selector processing, and computed-style lookup.
What workload does the Crunch Test run?
The test traverses a content-rich document, splits text into words, wraps matching words in temporary highlight elements, verifies expected CSS property values, and removes those elements.
How is the Crunch score calculated?
Successfully validated operations are divided by elapsed time and multiplied by the test weight. Higher scores indicate faster DOM and style processing.
Is Crunch a CSS compatibility test?
No. It is a performance workload. CSS Capabilities separately measures browser feature support.
How to interpret the result
The result reflects DOM mutation, text traversal, selector processing, and computed-style lookup throughput on a content-heavy document.
